- Broke
- When something doesn't work, it's broke.
- Call Sign
- A pilot's nickname and/or the name they are identified by while flying.
- Carnivores
- Fighter pilots.
- Casual Status or Duty
- How an officer, who has been selected to go to pilot training, spends his/her time until they begin training. These are usually lieutenants, affectionately called "Rent-A-Lieutenants."
- Chow or Mess Hall
- Dining Hall.
- Command Sponsored
- When a family is authorized to travel, usually overseas, with their active duty sponsor.
- Crud

- Eagle
- Nickname for the F-15C.
- Fighting Falcon
- Nickname for the F-16.
- First Shirt
- First Sergeant.
- Flight Line
- The runway.
- FLUG
- Flight Lead Upgrade training for pilots.
- 'Fuge
- The centrifuge used to test a pilot's "G" tolerance.
- G-sles
- The little dots one gets after riding in the centrifuge.
- Grade
- Similar to rank, but mostly used for financial purposes.
- Heavy
- Any plane larger than a fighter.
- Herbivores
- Heavy pilots.
- Hornet
- Nickname for the F-18.
- Lawn/Yard Nazis
- The people who come to inspect your yard every week if you live in government housing.
- Long Tour
- When an active duty member is stationed at an overseas installation for at least 2 years.
- Rank

- Remote
- A duty station where family members are not authorized to accompany an active duty sponsor.
- Roof Stomping
- When pilots get the urge to rudely awaken another pilot (and usually his/her family) in the middle of the night by jumping on their roof, just so they will give them alcohol.
- Short Tour
- When an active duty member is stationed at an overseas installation at least 180 days, but no more than 2 years.
- Sponsor
- Active duty family member or someone who assigned to assist you when you PCS to another installation.
- Strike Eagle
- Nickname for the F-15E
- Tomcat
- Nickname for the F-14.
- Unaccompanied Tour
- When an active duty member goes to an installation without his/her family.
- Viper
- Alternate nickname for the F-16.
- Warthog
- Nickname for the A-10.
